Tom Alkin
Tom’s practice covers all areas of intellectual property law and related fields. In 2010 he is being led by Ian Mill QC in appeal proceedings in the trade mark licensing case Hudson Bay v. Umbro [2010] ETMR 15 and is acting for Jay Sean in a music publishing dispute expected to come on for trial towards the end of the year. In 2009 Tom appeared in the trials of Hudson Bay v. Umbro and the copyright claim Dean v. Carruthers. In 2008 he appeared in Hotel Cipriani SRL v Cipriani (Grosvenor Street) Ltd [2009] RPC 9, a trade mark infringement and passing off case. As well as building a strong media, trade mark and design practice, Tom has degree level science and regularly advises on patent disputes.

Rated as ‘up and coming’ by Chambers and Partners, Tom is described as “quick on the uptake, frank and always constructive” and “not afraid to offer suggestions in relation to the broader picture” (Chambers and Partners 2010). Tom is rated as a leading media junior by The Legal 500.
