Jacqueline practices in all areas of IP law and in the related
fields of information technology, e.g. computer contracts
particularly with a technical content, and information law,
with a particular expertise in data protection. Jacqueline
has appeared at all levels of civil courts up to and including
the House of Lords and in specialist tribunals (Patent Office,
Trade Marks Registry, Data Protection), but appears most frequently
in the High Court (including the Technology and Construction
Court) and the Court of Appeal. She also trained as a mediator.
Her recent clients include major companies in the fashion
and beauty industries: L’Oréal in cases involving
infringement of registered trade marks and unfair competition
(L’Oréal v Bellure), and the limits of the doctrine
of estoppel (Special Effects v L’Oréal); Jimmy
Choo and Chloë in a number of disputes involving the
infringement of Community Registered and unregistered Design
Right. She represented the Medical Defence Union in the leading
data protection case Johnson v MDU in the High Court and on
Appeal.
Described in the latest edition of Legal 500 as “…known
for data protection work. Solicitors are ‘terribly impressed
with her knowledge’, comment that she has a ‘real
“can do” attitude, very positive and confident,
quickly gets a grasp of what is required and has a real eye
for detail’.
