Mini-pupillages are available throughout the court terms. They will last two days and are intended to give potential pupillage applicants a view of chambers’ life.  Mini-pupillages are not a pre-requisite for pupillage nor are they assessed.

Because of the high demand for mini-pupillages, we welcome applications for mini-pupillage only from applicants who are either currently in the final year of their law degree or law conversion course, or from those who have already completed a qualifying legal degree. We will only offer mini-pupillages to those candidates who have a real prospect of successfully applying for pupillage proper according to the criteria by which we assess applications through the Pupillage Gateway system.  Candidates should be aware that there is a minimum requirement (for both pupillage and mini-pupillage applications) of at least one grade A at A-level or equivalent (excluding general studies) and a 2:i at undergraduate degree.  Candidates that have not satisfied the minimum criteria will only be considered if they have provided an adequate explanation in their application.

Those who have not yet studied law and have not yet made a firm decision to apply for pupillage, but meet enough of the selection criteria to show that they might be successful applicants in the future, are welcome to spend a day in chambers to get a feel for life as an IP barrister.

People wishing to apply for a mini-pupillage should send their CV to Mitchell Beebe with a covering letter explaining why they think they can become a successful IP barrister. Applications can be sent by post or electronically to [email protected].  If you have any questions or queries with regard to a pupillage or a mini-pupillage please contact our Senior Clerk, Ashley Carr on 020 7405 1222.

All applications for mini-pupillage will be treated confidentially.
