With a 1st in physics from Imperial College followed by experience working as an IT project manager at a major telecommunications company, Chris’ technical background gives him an edge.
An established trial advocate, Chris is also a popular and effective junior. He is frequently instructed in major and multi-national litigation.
Chris’ recent technical patent experience covers military hardware (AMI v Martin Baker; Remfry v Belcan), electronics (Lufthansa v Astronics; Hand Held Products v Zebra), pharmaceuticals (Dr Reddy’s v Boehringer Ingelheim; Novartis v Teva), medical devices (Abbott v Dexcom), manufacturing processes (Heraeus Noblelight v First Light Lamps), and oil wells (Hydra Systems v Titan Torque).
Experience includes major financial disputes: the account of profits in Lufthansa v Astronics; the FRAND trial in InterDigital v Oppo; and the pregabalin damages inquiry (Warner-Lambert v Dr Reddy’s).
In 2025 Chris appeared in two major interim injunction applications, with both trials pending – Aviator v Spribe (trade mark & copyright) and Dr Reddy’s v Boehringer (patent) – and represented Apple and LEVC in trade mark disputes. Notable trade mark cases have involved signs in foreign script (Lappet), and small scale use (Stone v Wenman). In 2022 Chris was involved in a major sports betting database case (Genius Sports).
Since 2019 Chris is an ‘expert’ adjudicator in Nominet’s domain name dispute resolution service.
